St. John's 2025 Mutual Ministry Review

Picture
Click here for a summary of our Mutual Ministry Review.
On Saturday, October 11th, St. John's Clergy, Vestry, and Staff met for a day of reflection on where we are, and where we are being called to go, in our parish life together.

The following shared values were identified through a series of exercises, stories and reflection:
  • A community of faith
  • Service to others
  • Music and Liturgy
  • Acceptance of people as they are
  • Inclusion and welcome
  • Justice and compassion.
Canon Mary Thorpe (our consultant), observed: "All of these values were undergirded by the sense that this is a parish that takes the baptismal covenant seriously and that they see their life and work as guided by love."

Your Spiritual Home: Ancient and New
At St. John's Episcopal Church, we know you seek a spiritual home. You want a place where tradition meets modern relevance. You want a place to explore your faith with sincerity and transparency, without fear of judgment. Everyone deserves a church home where they can be themselves. We know it can be tough to find a faith community that balances tradition and progress, but we welcome your questions. We celebrate diversity and provide a safe space to explore your faith. Whether you're new to church, returning, or seeking an inclusive community, you'll find a home at St. John's.

Welcome Back to Church

This is a place that is both ancient and new; the faith we hold goes back to Jesus, back to his Old Testament spiritual ancestors, back to those who walked the earth before us and found holy ground. What we do is often based on ancient patterns -- worship and music; loving service to the poor, the hurting and the lonely; working for justice and peace in our community and the world; lively and fearless exploration of ideas and theology. But our faith is also wholly contemporary -- engaging in the culture and needs of today. The theology of the Episcopal Church allows room for mystery, reason and growth.
