Sundays Morning and Evening Options to Suit your schedule and your spiritual needs.
8:00 a.m.: a pet-friendly (that's right, dogs and cats are invited to attend with their human companions) quiet, intimate, contemplative service of Morning Prayer based on ancient liturgies, which lasts about 30 minutes.
10:30 a.m.: A lively communion service with full choir, organ, and year-round primary aged children's Sunday School. The St. John's choir and organ master are known for their excellence in voice and performance. We are fortunate to have Marshall University faculty and graduate students as staff and seasoned performers in the choir and at the organ.
5 p.m. Night Church is a quiet Candle-lit Celtic Compline from 5 until about 5:30.
What if I have children?
Children are always welcome in church, always. We have lots of toys, books, activities and snacks for our little friends in the pews to help them pass the time. Just look for the kid station in the back of the church.
We have a special kids space in the sanctuary on the balcony over the chapel with bean bags, where they can relax, read, color and participate in the service away from parents.
We also welcome kids 8 years and older to serve on the alter as acolytes. Not only is this a fantastic way for your children to become engaged in the church, such service also counts towards community service hours. If interested you can contact the office.
We want your children to enjoy coming to church, just like you do.
Wednesday Morning - 10:30 a.m.
Each Wednesday we offer a Healing Eucharist (Holy Communion) service at 10:30 a.m. followed by coffee hour in the 2nd floor parlor (elevator available).
